Organizing the Unorganized

Becoming the market leader online for your specific business, service or product may not be as hard as it seems especially when your specific niche is very unorganized and splintered.

Although it seems like every business, product and service has website, many have overlooked the fact that the Internet thrives on community. People who use products will have questions about those products, when they break down, when they need them repaired or need to replace certain parts. People who are purchasing services are going to look for reviews and feedback from other people who purchase the same service.

Facilitating this dialogue for people is key and if no one else is doing it why not you?

The fact is if you’re selling a product, providing a service or have a business that is trying to tap into leads from the Internet you stand to gain substantially by creating the environment, trust and authority that comes from organizing the unorganized.

A Few Suggestions:

Be Objective – Remember the key here is to build the community. Once the community is in place and trust you it will be much easier to sell your products or services. For some of you it may make sense to start a new site.

Start A Forum – Use vBulletin for this! It does cost money but well worth it!

Product Reviews – If you are knowledgeable in your field become the authority by sharing your knowledge of the pro’s and con’s of products. Make sure people can leave comments and their own reviews.

DIY How To – Times are tough and for a lot of people they will try to do things themselves… UNTIL! They find out how involved and time consuming it will be. I like doing series spread out over several days so users come back and read the next step.

Build Your Audience

With a bit of creativity you can boost your ability to provide your product or service to a much larger audience. Its a bit of work but in the end you will be able to cause your marketing instead of relying on other services like PPC to generate sales for you.
