How can you leverage Twitter Trends to find targeted followers? Plus find out how testing with keywords can help add a few extra followers to your account.
Being a bit more selective and showing a bit of patience until a keyword related to your niche shows up can pay off. For example if I was a huge basketball fan, I may jump on trends like NBA, Kobe or NBA Finals.
Tweets on Trends fly by pretty fast when watching them in real time, but amazingly people do check them and follow those who have similar profiles. Posting on trending topics can prove to be a valuable way to pick up targeted followers.
On the flip side, you can watch trends yourself and check out who is tweeting. Clicking through on the profiles to check out if the person is real and worth following. Although there is no guarantee you will get a follow back, most likely, if your account is on topic, you will get a follow back.
When you don’t care who follows you back, simply jump right in and start tweeting on any trend. Amazingly you will start getting followers mostly poor quality un-targeted followers. This approach is incredibly successful for those who just needs huge follower counts. As long as your account looks somewhat real (and sometimes it doesn’t even matter) you can get followers using the “Fly Paper” approach.
The “Fly Paper” Approach also has a more general way of being used without trends. For example if you simply post on certain keywords you are almost certain to receive some followers. Testing has revealed keywords like zappos and ups have generated a follow back. More general keywords such as chocolate, flowers, MLM and several others have also provided followers. Again most if not all of these methods will provide non targeted followers or in other words they just pad the follower count.
