Treat your Twitter account as a micro site and brand it well. Give people an ability to take in as much information as possible. Provide contact information and a small write up for your products or services.
Go through each setting that is available to you via your Twitter account profile tab. Change everything! That’s right, spend some time to make you profile reflect who you are or the type of followers you are trying to attract.
Fill in your location so that you can be found by people in your area who need your products or services. Many Twitter clients including Twitter’s own search allows users to find other Twitter users within a certain geographical area.
Provide a website address if you have a company site or blog. Try creating a custom page for Twitter visitors that provides a small introduction of you or to your products or services. Actually click on the link on your profile, you would not believe how many times I have come across broken or incorrectly entered links. Do not use a url shortener for your web address, this makes you look suspicious and spammy.
Lastly make sure to provide a small write up about yourself in the BIO section. Don’t be fooled by Twitters small text field they provide for your bio, you can actually enter a lot of info. Try writing out your bio in notepad or some other editor first. This way you can see your entire bio and just simply copy and paste it in. You can also still enter website url’s they are just not linked anymore.
